Outfits for Early Fall

It's mid-September: mums and pumpkins litter the entrance of the grocery store, and my Instagram feed is populated with pictures of autumnal landscapes and people wearing cozy sweaters. The only thing that didn't magically transform into the epitome of fall on September 1st was the weather. Despite a few chilly mornings earlier this month, this week, the sun's shining, and it's a humid 90°.

As I've learned from my previous two years at school, consistent fall temperatures will not be gracing the Mid-Atlantic for another few weeks; so begins the challenge of dressing appropriately for the heat while still acknowledging the onset of the fall season. Now that we are a week into the unofficial start of fall, I'm gravitating towards neutrals, button-downs, ballet flats, and stripes to transition out of summer fashion. While a neutral and jewel-tone color palette is my primary means of creating fall-inspired outfits, my dark-colored shorts and skirts have been essential for dealing with the lingering summer heat.

For anyone who may be in a rut regarding what to wear, here are a few fall-ish outfit combinations that I will be relying on for the remainder of this transition season!
