Gifts that Give Back

After a very long and exhausting year, there's finally something to look forward to because the holidays are right around the corner! In the next few weeks, I will be sharing some gift guides for gift giving and wish list inspiration.

The first gift guide I've created is arguably the most important and one that is applicable for any occasion. This gift guide consists of 25 brands that believe in giving back all year round. Their respective missions support causes related to protecting the environment, saving animals, providing care and resources to underprivileged communities, mental health awareness, and fighting for social justice, to name a few.

With all the holiday spending, I understand that it can be a difficult time of year to make donations. So to help with that, I've rounded up some companies that make contributions to various causes with every purchase. Some of the companies use a buy-one-give-one model, while others donate a percentage of the purchase or their net profits. The point being, you don't have to make a donation in addition to what you are already spending to purchase the product.

Whether you are shopping for individuals who are passionate about a specific cause or you are interested in doing your part to make the world a better place, I hope this guide helps and inspires you to give back this holiday season!

give a gift to... MENTAL HEALTH EFFORTS

I decided to list the next group of brands as a separate category because mental health awareness holds a special place in my heart. There are numerous ways to make the world a better place, but I believe the most effective path to be the one forged by passion. I dream of a society where individuals suffering from mental illnesses receive the same compassion and support as individuals with physical ailments. Every solution starts with a conversation, therefore I am a strong advocate for the destigmatization of mental health issues and I am excited to have discovered brands that share the same passion.

For every purchase of any Philosophy product, the company donates 1% of the sale to community-based mental health efforts. Philosophy focuses on providing preventative support and treatment for women experiencing mental health issues.

Kenneth Cole donates 1% of their net online sales to the Mental Health Coalition, which was founded by Kenneth Cole in partnership with other influential brands, organizations, and individuals. The purpose of the Mental Health Coalition is to end the stigma surrounding mental health and provide services to individuals living with mental health conditions.
